You need video. Do you book a videographer, or bring in a content team? Both are good answers, for different jobs.
We’re biased, obviously, because we’re a content team. But plenty of businesses are better off with a great freelance videographer, and we’ll happily tell you when that’s you. Here’s how to work out which one fits.
What’s the difference between a videographer and a content team?
A videographer films and edits. A content team also plans the content, shoots photo and video together and helps put it to work in your ads and socials.
A videographer turns up, captures what you ask for and delivers the edit. A content team starts earlier, with a brief built around your marketing, and stays later, cutting the footage into ads, reels and website content.
When is a videographer the right choice?
When you know exactly what you need: a one-off event, a single brand video or footage for a team that already plans its own content.
If your marketing team has the plan, the shot list and the know-how to use the footage, a skilled videographer can be the most efficient option.
When is a content team the better fit?
When the content needs to work in your marketing: ads, socials, your website and launches, refreshed regularly.
One shoot day can produce video, photos, ad cuts and social clips, all planned around what you’re selling. Because the same team sees how the content performs, the next shoot gets better.

What should we ask before booking?
Ask who writes the brief and shot list, what you’ll get back and in what formats, and who helps use it afterwards.
The answers will tell you quickly whether you’re buying footage or a finished set of content that’s ready to run.
Does it cost more to use a content team?
Often the day rate is higher, but you usually get more usable content from each shoot. Compare what you get back, not just the price per hour.
Ask both options for a quote on the same brief and compare the deliverables side by side. That’s the fairest way to judge.
