Physio Marketing: How to Fill a Physiotherapy Clinic

28 May 2026 | By: Aaron Briggs

Physiotherapy clinics rarely struggle to help people. The challenge is making sure the right people find you first.

Physio marketing has a lot in common with chiropractic marketing: people are often in pain, trust matters more than price, and AHPRA’s advertising guidelines apply. But physios also have a few advantages, from strong referral networks to a wide range of services. Here’s how we’d put a plan together.

01 · Physio marketing

Who should a physio clinic market to?

Pick the services you want more of and the people who need them, rather than marketing “physio” to everyone.

Sports injuries, post-surgery rehab, back pain and desk-related problems, pregnancy and women’s health, and older adults all respond to different messages and channels. Choose one or two to lead with, then build out from there.

Which channels work best for physios?

Google for people searching now, Meta for building awareness locally, and local relationships for steady referrals.

No single channel does it all. The clinics that stay busy combine them, so every part of their marketing supports the rest.

  • GoogleSearch and Maps for people ready to book.
  • MetaFacebook and Instagram to meet locals before they need you.
  • Local area marketingGPs, surgeons, gyms and sports clubs.
  • WebsiteService pages that make booking easy.

How do referrals fit in?

Referrals are gold, but they’re uneven. Marketing smooths out the quiet months so you’re not waiting on the phone.

Keep nurturing GP, surgeon and club relationships, and support them with a clear online presence. When a referred patient looks you up, your website and reviews should confirm they’re in good hands.

04 · Physio marketing

What should physio content look like?

Real practitioners, simple explanations and short exercise or recovery tips, filmed in your clinic.

Content that helps people understand their problem builds trust long before they book. Keep it accurate, keep claims modest and make it easy to take the next step.

05 · Physio marketing

How do we keep patients coming back?

Clear care plans, reminders and gentle re-engagement when people drop off.

New patients are only half the picture. A simple system for rebooking and reactivating lapsed patients often adds more to a clinic than another campaign. It’s all part of our physio and allied health marketing.
